Nils Möbler + Konceptuella möbler

Nils Möbler + Konceptuella möbler

January 5, 2011 in CROP Carpets Collection, Design Blog, In the Spotlight, My Designs - 16 comments

The ART mission for Norrlandspojkarna is over. Done. Finnished. The exhibition went well. Alot of people showed up, and the response was overwhelming. I feel proud, honoured and a little blue. Well, I always do when a large project has come to an end. I guess it’s because I get so emotionally envolved in the work process …

… Anyhow, the artworks are permanent, so if you didn’t get the chance to show up during my exhibition you can always visit the head office of NP (Heffnersvägen 1, Sundsvall), or see the pieces right here, right now:

It’s about bloody time – It’s finally finnished!
We started working on this important product about a year ago – and here it is. You may wonder why this product even exists. Well, there are so much prejudices and lack of knowledge about hemophilia. So we felt it’s important to get the information out there, to family, friends and the public. We chose to do it in a lighter and slightly humoristic manner, in a way easy to grasp and fun to read, also appeal to broader target group.

Please take the time and read through it. See the previews or the whole pdf-brochure on the links below. We would appreciate if you spread this broschure to others you think would consider this information important. Thank you.

Welcome to my collection of wallpapers and patterns. I get alot of questions about all my patterns and especially how to order them. Mainly my wallpapers and patterns are used by interior designers and architects. So they can appear non existing.

My vision is that all my designs are available to everyone. Here’s a short presentation of the patterns, my thoughts and how to go about to get them. Hope you like what you see.

QUALITY
All wallpapers are non woven; which means that they are seamless and are mounted edge to edge. The wallpapers are durable, strong and has a high opacity. They are also easy to wipe. All the patterns are digitally printed. When it’s time to remount, there is no need for joint sanding and use of filler. Just put the new one on top of the old. Hopefully you’ll find my patterns timeless and will enjoy them for a long time.

NOT JUST WALLPAPERS
Some patterns are even available on products, as; reversable table tops, splashbacks (kitchen), tray tables, chairs, trays, coasters …
See each specification for details.

All patterns come in a broad variety of colour settings. Is there a specific colour combination you’re looking for don’t hesitat to ask us. We’re more than happy to help.

The Devotion of Pablo Picasso

October 11, 2010 in Design Blog - Leave a reply

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish artist that had a unique talent in painting by combining different techniques, theories and ideas making him one of the most well-known figures in 20th century art. Picasso had always shown a passion for art from a very young age and was determined to express his passion to the world. Overcoming high and low barriers, he achieved much success and fortune in his life. As Pablo Ruiz Picasso said, “action is the foundational key to all success.” Continuing to move forward by taking action and not sitting idle will create momentum for success.

Early in his life, Pablo Picasso slept during the day, worked at night and persevered through poverty, cold and desperation. He was known to have burned much of his early work just to keep warm at night. Picasso motivated himself through passion to push forward and eventually made luxurious connections. Constantly updating his style from the Blue Period, to the Rose Period, to the African-influenced Period, to Cubism, to Realism and Surrealism, he was a pioneer with a hand in every art movement of the 20th century.

Picasso was extraordinarily abundant throughout his long lifetime. A skillful self-promoter, he used politics, whimsicality, and harassment as a selling tool. The total number of artworks he produced has been estimated at 50,000, comprising 1,885 paintings; 1,228 sculptures; 2,880 ceramics, roughly 12,000 drawings, many thousands of prints, and numerous tapestries and rugs. From all of these works, only a few dozen have been regarded as a great success, leaving thousands in museums for viewing after his death and even more collecting dust. Picassco dedicated his life to art and has very influential with his portrayal of Cubism.

Finding home. A journey.

October 10, 2010 in Design Blog, iBlog - Leave a reply

The best trips to make are those not planned. My journey in to the design business was anything but traditional and straight on. Let me tell you.

I’ve always been good at drawing and had a nice handwriting. But those two talents wasn’t easy building a trade on as a youngster searching for that perfect job …

I was born in Stockholm 1973. Grew up in the restaurant and hotel business with my finnish mother and italian stepfather. We lived all around the country, even in Spain for some time. Most diverse – You can imagine. In my teens I lived in the USA on and off short periods of my life, competed in Tae kwon do in Sweden and abroad, became a military ranger with purpose of being a UN-soldier, was a radion host, was in to adrenaline sports and the list goes on … I’ve always had a competative mind – in other words never been afraid of throwing myself into challenges.

It wasn’t until ’96 I realized that I could combine my two talents I had when I grew up; I decided to become a Art director. Later on developed in to a Graphic Designer – and today to a boarderless designer/Passionate Designer. Developing has always been an important urge for me. When I started my business Paizano Design I started to see where I was going. Today I’ve found home, my passion; In work. And in life.

Life is a fascinating journey. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has to offer.

P.S.
I think my personal storytelling is my strength as a designer. I don’t walk in others footsteps. I don’t follow rules. I respect them. I bend them. With awareness comes open mindness and you can start making the best creations of your life.

Coming out on top.

Wedding rings designed by Love

Wedding rings designed by Love

October 8, 2010 in Bröllopet, Design Blog, In the Spotlight, My Designs - 17 comments

I’ve always dreamt of designing jewelry … so when I got married I just had to design my first ring to my loving wife!

Here’s the story behind the story
It’s not easy designing something for that person that means the world to you. Especially a wedding ring! She’s going to wear that piece for the rest of our lives … and you certainly don’t want to eat it up for the reeest of our lives *I’m almost starting to sweat again, like I did when I came up with the idea* But no guts, no glory, right!?

I like working with sublime symbolism in my creations. And when it comes to love it’s always very cliché. So my mind started thinking about us in terms of numbers. My number has always been 7 and my spouse’s 21. The tricky part was how to interact it in our rings – in a non tacky way. So I came up with this riddle;

7+21=2∞

(P+A= WE 2 FOREVER)
So what was I going to do with it!?

My typface has always been Futura (it’s very clean and timeless and has a nice touch of retro feel to it), so I started sketching with the number 7 in that specific typface. I came up with the idea that the three 7s should hold the diamond. In a protective kind of grip. And multiplied together they become 21. Problem solved! My wife came up with the splendid idea that I should have 7 small stones on the side of my ring. First I was kind of sceptic to it, though I’ve never been very fond of diamonds for my self. But the more I thought about it I thought it was … brilliant! Problem two solved. What a teamwork! *This marriage is off to a good start* So all I had to do now was to finalize my sketches and find a goldsmith that believes in the idea. And I did. See picture documentation of the process below.

Step by step:

So, what’s your verdict?

Special thank you to Håkan at Ateljé 15, Norrköping. For your great patience and craftmanship.

In memory of daddy-tattoo

In memory of daddy-tattoo

October 5, 2010 in Design Blog, Graphic Design, In the Spotlight, My Designs - 8 comments

Once in awhile I get a request that my soft heart can’t say no to … and of course not charge for either.
Passing of a father must be one of the toughest things a child can go through. And to honour that special bond with something everlasting – it should be made out of respect, care and beauty.
Hope this simple gesture will inspire you along Your path through life.

My thoughts …
In my illustration I’ve tried to captivate the essence of their relationship and other important symbolism, like:
– Eternal love/bond
– Sorrow and happiness
– Recovery and regrowth
– Darkness and hope

Still try to keep a maskuline look, with a tad of feminine touch. That’s the way I see the future man. A man who’s naturally manly but yet not afraid of showing he’s feminine side.

P.S.
The picture above is just a photo montage – where the final placing of the tattoo will be is under discussion.

This weekend I got a nice full page coverage in Hem & Fritid. I’m glad my old “home town” find my work interesting …

“He has a lot going on at the moment. The designer Peter Mäkelä recently got the Sundsvall Pride Honour Prize 2010. He got the prize for his pattern collection Pride Collection, that contains wallpapers, tray tables, chairs and other interior details. Part of the sales goes to the important work for HBT-rights. And at the same time he recently launched his rug collection CROP Carpets.”

At the end of november you can see parts of my rug collection at my Grand Finale-exhibition at Norrlandspojkarna. Hope everyone I know will show up and we’ll have a good time together. Can’t wait.

Thank you Anna-Maria Wiklund for a nice piece.

At home with Fredrick Federley (article)

September 24, 2010 in Design Blog, Furniture, In the Spotlight, Media, My Designs, Pride Collection, Wallpapers/Patterns - 12 comments

In todays Expressens Extra you can read about a nice At Home with-article at the wellknown politician Fredrick Federley. Most fun is that you can see my creations in the newly decorated home, like my wallpaper Pride Romance and table Blue Print.

“Cozy. The wallpaper ‘Pride Romance’ in the bedroom is one of Fredrick Federleys favourites in his flat”

“You can find alot of Fredricks personality in the interior. He chose the wallpaper in his bedroom ‘Pride Romance’ from the ‘Pride Collection’. If you look closely you’ll see it’s really dirty, he says with a big smile and tells us about when he told his mother about it she nearly flipped when she saw the details.”

Fredrick also has a large dinner table with the pattern ‘Blue Print’, in happy “Center party-green”. The pattern is exactly what it’s called a blue print – but over my old flat, and my neighbours!

You can buy both of my designs, ‘Pride Romance’ and ‘Blue Print’ through my producer Design M (Designmäklarna).

In this months (10-2010) issue of the interior magazine Sköna Hem you can find this nice little spot of the CROP Carpets Collection. Interesting swedish side story the brought up. Read it. Any story you recognize? Anyhow, fun and thank you Sköna Hem.

“Formgivaren Peter Mäkelä fascineras av de mystiska cirklarna som dök upp från ingenstans i sädesfält under 1980 och 90-talen. Epidemin började i Enlgand och sommaren 1993 fick Sverige sitt första fall: “Mystisk cirklar i Harplinge kan vara spår av flygande tefat” skrev tidningarna, och ufo-teorierna haglade ända tills konstnärer och studentkompisar trädde fram och erkände sina upptåg. Men Peter Mäkeläs CROP Carpets håller liv i mystiken. TIllverkas i handtuftad ull i flera mönster och en mängd färger.”

Held a workshop at MIUN School of design

September 2, 2010 in Design Blog - One comment

I left Norrköping at 5.30 this morning. And the workshop started at 1 a.m., in Sundsvall.

The sad part is that I have to put the keynote presentation together on the train, and I was so looking forward to sleep. Mainly because when I woke up this morning i really felt like crap. My son’s been having a cold for some time. So I’m guessing he’s the villian behind it.

On the train up I sat close to the Maria Wetterstrand, head of the Miljöpartiet. The kept yapping about all kinds of interesting political stuff. I even got some inside info that her husband is about to move home to to Sweden from Finland. If anyone’s interested.

Anyhow, the workshop went well. After about 5 cups of coffee and some pills I was feeling pretty alright. My presentation went … okey. But the best part was our discussions … So now afterwards it’ll be interesting to see what we’re going to cook up together in the future.

Can tell I’m writing as good as I’m feeling. I’m going to sleep good at the hotel tonight. And any second now … and I was so looking forward to hang out with some friends, but guess not. Good nite.

Oh, yeah … What was my workshop about!? I was about strengthen your brand and working with social medias of today, in a creative business. Interesting huh!? Sleep tight.

Wouldn’t it be cool to dress your kid up as Bruce Lee!? I know you boys out there know what I’m talking about! I don’t know if it’s because my son is starting to make a lot of weird faces and arm movements like a character in a Kung Fu movie, that made me think of this old baby outfit I drew some time ago … It would be a kick ass outfit, though.

‘Ear Candy’ – Wallpaper for kids!

‘Ear Candy’ – Wallpaper for kids!

June 15, 2010 in Design Blog, My Designs, Wallpapers/Patterns - One comment

Have you ever caught your children eating candy behind your back? Or watched them make funny faces to each other? The pattern ‘Ear Candy’ is about the clown within, the little villain testing the boundaries, that cute little thing growing up way too fast – but will always be that little someone you will love more than life itself.

Close up!

Orders through the producer Design M.

“Textil. För ett tag sedan berättade vi om norska Permafrost, som gör underfundiga mattor med “spår” av harar och traktorer. Även designern Peter Mäkelä satsar på en mattkollekton i samma anda, “Crop Carpets”, med inspiration från de mystiska mönster i sädesfält som länge satt fart på fantasin. Mattorna finns med tre mönster i en rad färger och kostar 6330 kr/kvm hos A-Carpet.”

Is missing out on the important Själavärk-gala

April 24, 2010 in Design Blog, iBlog - Leave a reply

I couldn’t go to the ‘Själavärk’-gala tonight. Unfortunatly. My thoughts go out to everyone there. So my tiny contribution were this, hopefully, inspiring litography I created a couple of years ago.

A great initiative by everyone involved. Support them at:

My first table!

April 11, 2010 in Design Blog, Furniture, My Designs - Leave a reply

Her she is. My first produced table. I call it ‘La Table’ – since it’s made out of laminate, HPL (high pressure laminate) to be exact, and to give at more sophisticated touch. In short you could say it’s an out door  modern french coffee table. It’s supposed to come out in three different sizes; Livingroom table, Coffee table and Bar table. It’s made out of three pieces so it’s easy to ship and handle. And made out of 100% raw paper, so the black color is natural. A cool detail is that the table board is reversable and you can choose between a various selection of different graphic designed patterns.

Stockholm Furniture Fair 2010 [report]

February 14, 2010 in Design Blog, Furniture, My Designs - 8 comments

Stockholm Furniture Fair 2010 was a great success. It’s hard to sum up the whole amazing week in short. It was so jam packed with exciting meetings, introductions and releases … But I can for sure say that the most fun of it all are all the new and interesting co-operations with aware and openminded producers. That believe in me and my far out ideas! So keep your eyes open soon you’ll see a number of my collections on the market. First out is CROP Carpets Collection for A-Carpet. After that Pride Collection for Design M. And more to come …

Things I will remember for a long time are; The CROP Carpet and green design chat with Maud OlofssonAndrea Ruggieros kind words. The walk about with deputy primeminister, Olle Melkerhed Not-loosing his camera. The release party of Design M’s showroom. And of course all the wonderful visitors and collegues.

Thank you all for your wonderfull support! See you next year.

The popular Crop Carpet stand Deputy primeminister Maud Olofsson stopped by and discussed green design. She loved the rug! Pecha Kucha Night nu i stan

November 20, 2009 in Media - Leave a reply

“Måste hålla tiden Det hela går till så att ett tiotal talare från den kreativa näringen bjuds in till den aktuella kvällen. Spelreglerna är extremt strama och tydliga: alla får exakt sex minuter och fyrtio sekunder på sig att tala. Under tiden kommer 20 bilder som talaren har valt att visas i exakt 20 sekunder. Och självklart startar hela arrangemanget klockan 20.20.

– Det är verkligen ”by the clock”!
